Cetyl alcohol, also known as 1- hexadecanol or palmityl alcohol, belongs to the family of alcohols which has a high fat quantity. CETYL alcohol is used in the cosmetics production. It is derived from vegetable oils such as palm or coconut oil.

• It has an emulsifying role. It is also used as a softener, thickener (concentrate enhancer), opaque element, and as a carrier of other substances in the chemical formula. Since it is not hydrolyzed with water, it can retain skin moisture and help hydrate the skin
